Perl Variable HTML Escape and UnEscape

Description:
Use this code to convert non-word characters to the html � format. This is useful for displaying forms populated with variables that have odd characters or for 'escaping' variables prior to saving them to a database.
Directions:
Follow Steps 1 and 2 below. Use the 'Grab Text' buttons to select the code within the adjacent textarea. Then use Control-C or Edit -> Copy to buffer the text for pasting into your document.

Usage (Step 1): Add this code to escape a variable. Replace [$variable] with your variable name.

Then use Control-C to copy the text into your web page.

Code (Step 2): Add this code to un-escape a variable previously escaped with the above code.

Then use Control-C to copy the text into your web page.
